Just like many other things in life, COMMUNICATION is key to a successful massage. It is important for you to feel free to express your goals for the massage. Is there anything bothering you? Are there any areas of the body that you would like addressed? Does a light and relaxing massage sound like what you’re looking for? Are you an athlete who enjoys firm to deep tissue? Is stretching something you would enjoy? Do you like having a table warmer? Are there any areas that you would like to be avoided? Is the use of auroma therapy for you?
Massage therapists are great listeners. Our intentions are always kind hearted at their core and many of us consider it important to have effective ways of communicating expectations. Ideally, most of these questions will be answered during the reservation process and at the start of the massage. Once the massage has started, most people keep the conversation to a minimum (sometimes even fall asleep) as we focus on breathing and relaxing.
So now you know. When you’re looking for a massage, ASK QUESTIONS… COMMUNICATION IS KEY.
